Why I Upcycle
I really didn’t discover thrifting as the trend tis become in recent years, I grew up in it. As a kid, it was survival. through motherhood that started at 16 for me, it was the only way to have enough money to dress my baby boy and pay the bills. And now, today, a choice I’m proud to make because I remember what it felt like to be the discarded thing, waiting to be chosen.
Upcling really comes from my desire to create a space where everyone sees the beauty in imperfection. It is my way of fighting for what’s overlooked and giving it another life.
By title, sure, it’s “sustainability.” But by soul, it’s a mirror. Most of us are just looking for a place to belong, proof that our “too much” and “not enough” can both sit at the same table as a way to feel like ourselves again.
Taking something that’s been pushed to the back of a rack and turning it into a new favorite piece in someones closet feels like a love letter to every version of myself that thought she was too different to belong because of what she wore.
Turns out, what we wear is one of the coolest ways we can express and represent ourselves and there is room for all of us to do just that in our own way, & always plenty room for you here so grab your favorite drink and take a peak around, I'm honored to have you!
